A living archive.

e4 brings together 139 recorded sessions from 8 courses, made between 2003 and 2005.

Original voices, carefully preserved

Recordings, transcripts, and historical descriptions come from the original collection. Speaker biographies describe the time of recording, not current appointments. Chapter timestamps are archival and approximate. Unreviewed sentence timings are not used for automatic highlighting.

Private by default

The homepage and course previews are open. An account is required to open courses, sessions, themes, and transcript search. Your chosen appearance is remembered in this browser and is not linked to your account. Without signing in, progress and notes stay in this browser; clearing browser storage removes them. With an account, your email, session positions, completion marks, and private notebook are stored in Cloudflare D1 and available across signed-in browsers. The iOS app is not connected to accounts yet.

Existing browser notes upload only when you choose Import in your account. Signing out removes the account notebook from the page; it does not erase your separate browser notebook. Account data is kept until you delete your account. Export and deletion are in Account; deletion requires a sign-in within the last ten minutes. Cloudflare recovery backups can retain deleted data until their retention window expires.

The administrator sees aggregate registrations, course progress, session viewers, estimated playback minutes, and playback problems—not a list of learners or private notes. Signed-in playback problems are retained for 90 days. Short homepage previews and searches are not tracked. Estimated playback time excludes pauses, buffering, and seeks; it is not proof of attention. Per-play measurements are retained for 90 days and deleted with your account. Essential session cookies keep you signed in for up to 14 days; technical session records include connection information for account security. Codes expire after ten minutes, and expired security records are cleaned daily.

The website is delivered by Cloudflare; recordings stream from the archive’s existing Amazon CloudFront service. These providers receive ordinary connection information needed to deliver the content. e4 adds no advertising or third-party analytics scripts.

One archive, two ways in

The native SwiftUI app remains part of e4. Website and app use stable course and session identities, with a versioned publishing catalog that can be updated without changing the original materials.
